Parents: George Durant (Sr.) and Maria (Beaufoy) Durant Payne (she married a friend of George's after George's death whose name was Major Benjamin Charnock Payne and he was also buried in the Durant vault along with George Durant and his daughter Maria.

Auden's History of Tong, Volume 2, page 139 by Joyce Frost:
"1793. May 22. Benjamin Charnock Payne, Esq., formerly a Major in the 99th Regt.; who married the widow of Mr. Durant, owner of Tong Estate, to whom he was an Executor, buried."
"Major Payne was buried in the Durant vault in the center of the Chancel, and when it was opened in 1891, his coffin was found bearing the inscription 'Died 14 May, 1793 aged 38.' Evans view of the castle published in 1789 is styled "Tong Castle in Shropshire, the seat of Benj. Charlock Payne, Esq." He left a daughter by his wife stepdaughter of Mr. Durant."
