Robert Louis Elkins, age 82, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 11:59 am on Sunday November 27, 2016 at his residence. Born on November 30, 1933 in South Whitley he was the son of Thomas and Violet (Holler) Elkins.

Robert grew up in South Whitley and graduated from South Whitley High School with the Class of 1952, before moving to Columbia City in 1966. On October 3, 1954 Robert married Marilyn Sue Fritz at Oak Grove Church of God, Columbia City.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He enjoyed camping, fishing, square dance calling, traveling across the country, and watching the Cincinnati Reds and his grandsons playing baseball.

Robert worked for Dana Weatherhead as a machine operator for 30 years before retiring on January 1, 1993 and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1906, Columbia City.

Survivors include his sons Dennis (Debora) Elkins and Stephen (Jill) Elkins both of Columbia City; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Stayer of Columbia City.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Violet Elkins, wife Marilyn Sue Elkins, son Kenneth Eugene Elkins, brother Max Elkins, and sister Evelyn Brickley.
