Alice Wiles Holtzclaw, 89 of 107 Chestnut Court, Beechwood widow of Fred “Buddy” Lanier Holtzclaw, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Caper Wiles and Gertrude Mae Bass Wiles. Known as “Miss. Alice” to many children, she retired from The Sunshine House and was a great nanny to many families until she turned 85. Alice was a devoted charter member of Lupo Memorial United Methodist Church where she was very active and sang in the choir. This genuine beauty had a heart of gold and pure love. She was selfless and giving to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by a sister, four brothers and a grandson, Ryan Pierce.

Surviving are three daughters, Freda Rickenbaugh, Tara Sizemore (Jack), both of Greenwood and Denise Pierce (Ron) of Melbourne, FL; a sister, Polly Watson, of Lawrenceville, GA; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Lupo Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sheila Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Corbett Sizemore, Trevor Sizemore, Justin Pierce, Tanner Pierce, Turner Rogers and Tony Butler.

The family will receive friends and family at the church before the service from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.
