She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Port Arthur and spent her final three years in a nursing home in Austin. Betty had many long-time friends and co-workers, first at Sears in Port Arthur and later at Schlessinger's Nursing Home in Beaumont, Texas. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and going out to eat with her friends, especially Mexican food. She also loved to dress in bright colors and listen to music.
She was devoted to her family, including her mother Elizabeth Claud, her husband Ben Benton, her older son, Gordon Lee Benton, and her younger son Ron Benton and his wife Beverley Braud.
Betty is survived by Ron Benton and his wife Beverley, as well as her beloved dog Lucky.
