Margaretha was a native of Hannover, Germany. She immigrated to the United States and settled in Saint Louis, Missouri. About 1847 she married Franz Ruff and they had six children: Margaretha, Josephine, Emilie, Bertha, Theodore and Arthur. Margaretha died of valvular disease of the heart at the age of 69.
