Robert Jay Marchus was born in Van Nuys, California, on May 2, 1948. He passed away Nov. 13, 2016, in Idaho Falls.

He spent his early years in North Hollywood, California, and married his high school

sweetheart, Dorothy, on March 18, 1967. He loved golf, baseball, fishing, boating and woodworking.

He received a bachelor's degree in history from California State University, Northridge, in 1975 and a master's degree in school business management from Pepperdine University, Malibu, in 1978.

He was employed by the Los Angeles School District until he moved to Idaho Falls in 1982, where he was a longtime teacher in Bonneville School District 93 and supporter of students and teachers.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he was active in choir, mission trips to Brazil and other ministries. He will be missed by family, friends and students alike.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Pearl Book Green, and his father, Lester Richard Marchus. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Louise Moore Marchus, and two daughters, Pamela (Aaron) Boston and Carol (Shawn) O'Donnell, as well as eight grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at St Paul's United Methodist Church.
