Born at Rugby, N.D., Jan. 30,1921, he was a son of Gust and Julia Anfinson Marchus. He attended schools in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1939.
He had owned and operated several businesses in Alaska and California until he became ill four years ago. His pet project was Markhus Mountain Country Store in Leggett, Calif.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Lisbon.
Surviving him are his wife, Jeanne Ouellette Marchus whom he married Jan 31, 1969, four sons, Mike Marchus of Lisbon, Richard Marchus of Westlake, Calif, Mark Marchus of Prescott, Ariz., and Bob Marchus of Idaho Falls, Idaho, two daughters, Leslie Marchus of Lisbon and Terry Rubincan of Delta Junction, Ala., four brothers, Gifford Marchus of Rugby, ND., Floyd Marchus of Walnut Creek, Calif., Clarence Marchus of Antioch, Calif and Gordon Marchus of Henrietta, Ga., a sister, Violet Stinnett of Walnut Creek, Calif., nine granchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Art Marchus, Emil Marchus and Oscar Marchus.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main St.
