Allen L. "John" Snelling, 68, of Wayne Township, died Monday, December 28, 2009, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born in Middletown on December 18, 1941 to parents Claude and Estella Mae (Borders) Snelling Sr.

John worked as an electrician for Armco Steel Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1994 and then started Snelling Electric, Inc. He was a veteran of the National Guard.

Mr. Snelling is survived by his wife, Linda K. (Sponsel) Snelling; sons, Brian (Rachel) Snelling and Mark (Mary) Snelling; brothers, Bill (Jean) Snelling, Jack Snelling, Eugene (Reed) Snelling, Larry (Kathy) Snelling and Michael (Shirley) Snelling; sisters, Betty Dearth, Kathy (John) James and Cheryl Snelling and three grandchildren, Lauren Snelling, Eric Snelling and Evan Snelling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas B. Snelling, Paul Snelling, Claude Snelling Jr., Rick Snelling and Donald Snelling; and sister, Eloise Snelling.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 10:00 am at Calvary Christian Center, State Route 127 & Jacksonburg Rd., with Pastor James Mullins officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45206.
