Services for Mr. Lloyd Ortego will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Kingsville Baptist Church with Reverends Richard DeBusk, Freddie Arnold, Bryan South and Matt Endris officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Pallbearers will be his sons, Leonard Ortego, Dr. Stephen Ortego and Don Ortego, Jason DeBusk, Jarrod DeBusk, Marc Ortego, Aldon Ortego and Taylor Ortego. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Kingsville Baptist Church.

Mr. Ortego, 91, of Ball died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was a member and deacon of Kingsville Baptist Church for over 60 years. He was an Army veteran serving as a baker and cook while stationed at Camp Beauregard and Camp Livingston. After his separation from the military he assisted his father in law, Calvin Harper at Central State Hospital Poultry Farm and then for Vanderhoven Feed and Seed. Mr. Ortego help to start both Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Alexandria Memorial Gardens, retiring in 1980 after 30 years of service. In his spare time he loved gardening and selling his produce.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Carrie Johnson Ortego; brothers, William Ortego, Calvin Ortego, and twin brother, Floyd Ortego; sister, Mae Ortego Johnson. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Myra Harper Ortego; sons, Leonard Ortego and wife, Patricia, Dr. Stephen Ortego and wife, Linda, Don Ortego and wife, Mary; daughter, Carolyn DeBusk and husband, Richard; brother, Edmond Ortego, Jr.; sisters, Tommie Ortego Carroll and Amelia Ortego Marler; grandchildren, Jason, Jarrod, Jana, Marc, Melissa, Sarah, Liza and fiance', Johnathan, Stephanie, Aldon, Taylor; ten great grandchildren, Richard, Zac, Brandie, Sheena, Bridgett, Katherine, Chance, Levi, Claire and Christian; and a host of nieces and nephews.
