Mary Prizzi of Bronxville died on January 31, 2001 at Prividence Rest Home in the Bronx. Mrs. Prizzi was born in Palermo, Italy on Feb. 21, 1898 to Biaggio and Giovanna Oristano. She came to the United States in 1902 and settled in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Bronxville in 1967. She married George Prizzi in 1923. He died in 1976. From 1975 to 1982 she helped as a volunteer in the Reading Lab. at P.S. 14 in Yonkers. In 1980 the P.T.A. at the school presented Mrs. Prizzi with the Jenkins Memorial award. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Citrone and her son-in-law Joseph Citrone of Bronxville, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a brother, Victor Oristano of Westport, CT, a sister, Anna Prizzi of Naples, FL and a sister, Jennie Giannattasia of Staten Island, NY. A wake will be held at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville on Fri. 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Mass will be at St. Joseph's on Sat. Feb. 3rd at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
