Marie was born October 6, 1918, to Charles Bruce Pett and Anna Amelia Andersen in Mendon, Utah. She spent her growing up years in Arbon Valley. She was the third of eight children.
Marie married Vadel Swenson on July 11, 1936. They had three children: Shirlee Ward, Dennis Swenson and Donna Goddard. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in October of 1964.
Marie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in her church and Relief Society and was a Dance director for many years.
Mother was a happy, loving person and always ready for an adventure with her children. She was the best Mom and our best friend.
She made and quilted hundreds of quilts, many with her Relief Society Sisters and more with family. Dozens were donated to the Primary Children's Hospital. Our mother also made the best pies in the world; her lemon meringue pie was a thing of beauty.
Marie is survived by her three children; two sisters: Betty (Duke) Hipp and Karen Sutton; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; three sisters; one grandson and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 12 noon in the Malad LDS 7th Ward chapel, 400 N. 200 W. Friends may visit with the family at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
