charles "c.b." was the son of john wesley shipps and mary bell heisler shipps. he was born in clinton co. missouri. he was a farmer, blacksmith and in later years, a carpenter.he married anna laura VanBriggle on june 29, 1898. they parented 6 children, 5 living to maturity. bernard keith (died young), hesterlyn, helen, thelma,seth and van shipps. this family was raised on a farm near arkoe, missouri. c.b. and anna moved to maryville after the kids left home. their daughter, helen lived with them, as she never married. she taught school in maryville school district for several years.
