John B, “J.B” Asbury, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, December 28, 201 6 at Winfield Senior Living.

Born June 11, 1934 in Dexter, Kansas, he was the son of John O. and Ellen (Barnhart) Asbury. He was raised and received his education in Dexter. He was united in marriage to Norma J. Rowe on February 28, 1954 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where J.B. worked as a grinder for Dawson Monument. He later worked for Gordon Piatt before going to Webster Engineering where he remained until retiring as a grinder in 1994. Norma preceded him in death on March 1, 2008.

J.B. enjoyed fishing, gathering pecans and going to the movies with his son, Larry.

His family includes: His daughter: Brenda L. Asbury of Arkansas City.

In addition to his parents and wife, J.B. was preceded in death by his son, Larry Asbury, three brothers, Loren, Wayne and Maurice Asbury and two sisters, Betty Dauber and Sharon Widener McKibben.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Rose Valley Cemetery east of Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.
