Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. The Rev. Victor Headrick will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Dorraine was born Dec. 20, 1933 in the town of Liberty, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Reinhardt and Elda Behnke Fischer. She grew up and was educated at Manitowoc Rapids and graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1952. Dorraine married Kermit H. Hackmann on June 16, 1956 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc by the Rev. Armin Roekle. They celebrated 45 years together.
Dorraine worked side by side with her husband and children on their family farm and enjoyed all aspects of farming. She will be remembered for her patience and unconditional love given to her grandchildren as well as many other children. She also enjoyed sewing, especially quilting, bird watching, baking, cooking and yard work. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg, the Ladies Aid of the Church and LWMS.
Survivors include her husband: Kermit; their children: Randy (Mary) Hackmann, Manitowoc; Ronald “Red” (Susan) Hackmann, Manitowoc; Karen Morrow, Two Rivers; Ralph (Heidi) Hackmann, Manitowoc. Fifteen grandchildren: Michael, Marie, Rhonda, Tamma, Chad, Michelle, Jim, Hunter, Tyler, Luke, Zachary, Brennan, Kali, Gabrielle and Storm. Great-granddaughter: Lydia, Two brothers: Leroy (Arline) Fischer, Manitowoc; Eugene (Bernice) Fischer, Manitowoc; a sister, Ardella (Jerome) Gaedtke, Manitowoc; sister-in-law: Evelyn Fischer, Collins; two brothers-in-law; Arno (Lucille) Hackmann, Manitowoc; Elroy Stauss, Manitowoc. Aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul and Wallace Fischer: Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Ruben & Dora Hackmann; and a sister-in-law: Vernetta Stauss.
