William Kent "Bill" Bair, age 74, of Lake Lure, NC died, Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at his home following an extended illness. He was born February 24, 1942 in Beckley, WV, and was the son of the late James Woodrow and Alice Elizabeth (Mayhew) Bair.

Bill was a 22 year Air Force veteran retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1986. He then worked as a Defense Contractor for Systems Research and Applications Corporation headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia until he retired to North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert in 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Britt Lillemor Gunilla Bair, a Swedish American, two daughters, Heidi Beth Collins of Wesley Chapel, FL and Heather Lynn Bair of Asheville, NC, two stepdaughters Lillemor Johansson and Malin Josephine Johansson in Sweden, a brother, James Adolph of Fairborn, OH, and a grandson, Kent Collins.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon, Sunday, January 8, 2017, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Jonathan Cobb and Reverend Dr. Jim Whitlow officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC at 12:00pm, Monday, January 9, 2017.
