James Woodrow Bair, 90, of Beckley, died on Friday, March 1, 2002, at Sunbridge Pine Lodge extended care center following an extended illness. Mr. Bair was a Beckley businessman for many years, having been the treasurer of Bair Brothers Inc., and was the former owner and operator of East Main Motel in Beckley. He was a member of United Methodist Temple, Beckley, and was a lifelong resident of Beckley.
Born October 12, 1911, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Robert Taylor Bair (1880-Deceased) and Mabel Clare Kent-Bair (1879-Deceased) (per WV Register of Births, Raleigh County, WV, Page 233). He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bair (Died in 1979); a brother, Adolph Bair (1902-Deceased); and five sisters, Ruth Alfreda Bair-Snead (1900-1985), Marie Bair-Campbell (1904-1980), Robert "Ina" Bair (1907-1989), Nedra Evelyn Bair-Diehl (1909-1988) and Lucille "Lucy" Bair-Donovan (1913-1988).
Survivors include three sons, James A. Bair & wife Dorothy Bair of Fairborn, OH, William Kent Bair & wife Britt Bair of Lake Shore, NC, and Robert T. Bair & wife Vicky Bair of Beckley; a sister, Bobbie Marguerite Bair-Bennett-Short (1916-2009) of Beckley; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Ellen File officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
