Charles (Chuck) Skripkar, age 92, passed away on Dec. 27, 2016, at Peppi's House, TMC Hospice, in Tucson, AZ.

Chuck was born on Sept. 17, 1924, in Allegheny, PA, to John and Mary (Zonovich) Skripkar.

Chuck grew up in East McKeesport, PA, and graduated from East McKeesport High in 1942.

After high school he:

• moved to the Southwest to become a ranch hand for several years.

• joined the U.S. Army in 1949 and served for 6 years. Chuck served in the Korean War and was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge. Chuck was honorably discharged in 1955, achieving the rank of corporal.

• began work as a bricklayer, where he worked for 30-plus years. He became a bricklaying instructor at the Arizona state prison complex north of Douglas, AZ. He retired at the age of 72.

Chuck married Joyce in 1967 in Douglas at the Gadsden Hotel. They were happily married for 40 years.

Chuck was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Chuck enjoyed flying model airplanes with the A.P.A.C.H.E. birds club, which flew at Douglas Municipal Airport.

Chuck is survived by his son, Kenneth (Janice) Skripkar of Tucson; sister, Helen Paradise (96) of White Oaks, PA; and step-grandchildren, Amanda and Ryan (Debrea) Brandon.

A memorial service will be held at Bisbee Funeral Home Chapel, 1094 W. Hwy. 92, Bisbee, AZ, at 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2017.
