POE, William “Bill”, age 70, of Middletown, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1946 in Royalton, Kentucky and lived in Ohio since 1960.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a security officer at General Motors for 35 ½ years, and then as a courier for CINTAS for 10 years, retiring in 2013. Bill was a member of the Spring Hill Church of Christ and a member of the F. and A.M. Jefferson Lodge #90.

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Bill was a private pilot and built his own Piper Cub Plane. He also enjoyed bird watching and fishing.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Lola Henderson Poe; his granddaughter, Emma Nicole Poe; and one sister, Joyce Ann Briscoe.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lana Poe; three children, John F. (Chantell) Poe, Patricia Ann (Les) Saunders, and William R. Poe and fiancée Sarah Noble; eight grandchildren, Asheley Saunders, Kyrstien Saunders, John W. Poe, Hailey Poe, Katie Poe, Taylor Saunders, Avery Poe, and Carson Poe; special family member, Jessica Poe; two brothers, Roger (Patricia) Poe and Delbert Poe; one sister, Janet (Earl) Wright; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family extends their special thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Quaker Heights Rehab Department for their care of Bill during his illness.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Spring Hill Church of Christ, 2021 Brell Dr., Middletown, Ohio 45042, followed by services at 12:00 noon at the church with Pastors Bob Stacy, Steve Reeves and Steve Elkins officiating.

Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery, Monroe, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.herr-riggs.com
