OBIT:
Fred Kain, 79, retired West Side farmer, died Monday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. He was born July 25, 1895 at Orland, Indiana. He came to the Kittitas Valley in 1917. He and Asal Hatfield were married at Ellensburg in 1923. They farmed on the West Side until retirement in 1950 when they moved to Thorp.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mr. Dorna Nelson of Salem, Oregon and Mrs. Darlene Lumgair of Los Banos, California; five grandchildren; one brother, Clinton Kain of Tacoma; and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Harrell of Ellensburg.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Evenson Chapel. The Rev. Ed Liggett will officiate and burial will follow at Thorp Cemetery.
