Marriage

22 January 1627

Tenterden, Kent, EnglandConstance Allin was married first to William ROBINSON, who died in 1625. She married Jonas/Jonah Austin 22 Jan 1626 (old style) at Temterden, England. Jonas & Constance w/their children sailed for New England in the Hercules in Mar 1634/5.Jonas Austin married (1) in Tenterden, Kent, 22 January 1626/7, Constance (_____) Robinson, widow of William Robinson. She died at Taunton on 22 April 1667.
They had 3 children: Mary, Jonas, & Mary.
On 2 and 4 March 1634[/5], "Jonas Austen of Tenterden & Constance his wife," along with "Jonas Austen," "Lidia Robinson," and "[blank] Austen, a little child," had their conformity certified by the vicar, the mayor, and another magistrate of Tenterden, and were enrolled as passengers for New England on the Hercules of Sandwich. LYDIA ROBINSON was stepdaughter of Jonas Austin, his first wife's daughter by her first husband. The "little child" was the Mary Austin baptized on 5 August 1632.
Savage entertains, but does not wholly accept, the idea that it was the son of the immigrant who married the widow of John Hill, while Pope intermixes records for the immigrant and his son of the same name.
