Mary Anna Gorzenski, age 100 years, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at McLaren Bay Region just five days short of her 101st birthday. She was born January 30, 1916 to the late John and Justine (Rys) Czuba in Hampton Township. At the age of 79 years, she went back to school and earned her high school diploma.

Mary, along with her husband Joe, were the co-owners of Joe’s Appliance, which has been in business for over 70 years. Joe preceded her in death on February 25, 1985. A month before Mary died, she sold her last washer and dryer set. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and her life was dedicated to her work. Her favorite saying was “I was made in Poland but born here”.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Charbonneau; four grandchildren, Patrick (Rosemary) Gorzenski, Sherry (Gary) Binder, Jolie (Jeff) Cooney, Joel (Melissa) Forristall; five great-grandchildren, Meaghan (Jacob) Thelen, Michael Gorzenski, Brooke Binder, Emma Forristall, Grand Lentner; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three children, Clarence (Jean) Gorzenski, Margaret May (Gerald) Enszer, Mary Ellen Gorzenski, and ten siblings.

Many thanks to Dr. Raza, the staff at McLaren Bay Region, the staff at Bay Shores Nursing Center, Timothy Czowski and his wife, Jean, and Sara Pitch for their care and support.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish (St. Stanislaus Kostka Church) 1503 Kosciuszko, Bay City. Mary Anna will lie in state in church Monday after 9:00 am. Rev. Richard M. Filary will preside and Rite of Committal will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be designated for Juvenile Diabetes.
