Abigail was the daughter of Abiel Messer and Abigail Marsh of Haverhill and Methuen, Mass. She was married in Methuen 5 Dec 1739 to Josiah Emerson, the son of Joshua Emerson and Mary Clark, also of Haverhill and Methuen. She lived with her husband in Methuen, and that is likely where her seven children were born from 1739/40 to 1760; however, they attended the church just over the state line in Salem, NH, and that is where all, except the first, of the children were baptized.
