Ken Cobb, 75, of Big Spring, passed away Thursday, February 02, 2017 at Odessa Medical Center. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday at Coahoma Cemetery with Richard Lee, officiating.
Ken was born November 1, 1941 in Big Spring, Texas to S E Florine Potts Cobb and Will Alf Cobb. He married Shirlie Abney on December 14, 1963 in Big Spring, Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Howard County. Ken was a Production Foreman for Arco for 30 years and retired in 1992. He did contract pumping for West Port Oil & Gas. Ken served on Coahoma School Board for 2 terms. He majored in Animal Husbandry at Texas Tech University. Ken was very involved with his children and grandchildren. He also participated in Livestock Shows and served on the Board of the Howard County Livestock Association. Ken was a member of First United Methodist Church of Big Spring.
Ken is survived by his wife Shirlie Cobb of Big Spring; six children: Shanna Roberts-Taylor and husband Scott of Coahoma, Ken Cobb, Jr. and wife Lisa of Big Spring, Lara Cobb Stubbs and husband Wesley of Clint, Melanie Glidwell and husband Shannon of McKinney, Katie Cobb-Lee and husband Richard of Wylie and Michael Cobb and wife Amye of San Angelo. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister: Donna Laster and husband Bill of Sequin; three brothers: Alf Cobb and wife Claudia of Owasso, OK, Jody Dawdy of Big Spring and Doug Walker and wife Sharla of Needville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Faye Henry and Janice Cearley and a son-in-law: Terry Roberts.
Pallbearers will be Lance Roberts, Corey Roberts, Luke Smith, Jimmy Cearley, Brant Laster, Jason Laster, Craig Matthews and Bannon Lee.
The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley Boy's Ranch at Cal Farley's, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001. A scholarship fund will be set up at Coahoma High School FFA in memory of Ken Cobb.
