Jean will be remembered as an independent woman and a role model for her entire family. She was born July 30, 1924 in Jennings, MO to John Otto and Antoinette Vincent (nee: Novacek).
Jean met her future husband, Joseph Victor Herold Jr., at a USO dance in St. Louis. After a courtship, they were married in Miccosukee, FL in 1942. They had two daughters.
Joseph's unexpected death while flying to Africa in 1954 forced her to make difficult choices. She built a new life and worked at the University of Texas at Austin in the reference libraries for 31 years.
After her retirement, she moved to the Kansas City, Missouri area to be near family. During her golden years, she attended the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, and enjoyed her Bible Study Fellowship group and a book club.
She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services: Private graveside services are planned for Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
