Lon was the son of Layne Compton and Louisa "Vicie" Miller. He married Esther (Hester?) George, Sarah Ann Boyd and Malinda Johnson. He was a farmer.

Lon Compton, 82, of Georges Creek, KY died December 26 at the home of a daughter, Mrs George Hannah in Logan, WV. He was the son of the late Lane and Vicie North Compton. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for 51 years. Funeral services will be conducted by the Revs. Bird Webb and Millard VanHoose from Bells Chapel Freewill Baptist Church at 11 am. on Friday. Burial will be in the Boyd Cemetery at Ulysses, KY. The body will remain at the Curtright Funeral Home until time for the services. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hester Davis Compton; two daughters, Mrs. George Hannah and Mrs. Smith Hannah, both of Logan, WV; one son, Mark Compton of Ulysses; and 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
