The son of Frank & Mary Magdalene (Zima) Beran. John was born in what used to be Czechoslovakia. He came to America with his mother, brother, & sisters in 1903, per his mother's obituary.


                         DEATHS
Beran—
John Beran, 63, died at the Falls City Community hospital early Monday morning, January 5, 1959. Mr. Beran was a farmer in northeast Brown county and is survived by one brother, Frank Beran, and a sister, Mrs. Rosa Bowen, both of the home near White Cloud; a cousin, Mrs. Fanny Blecha of Hiawatha; several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held from Meek's chapel at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, January 7, by the Rev. J. A. Doane. Interment will be at the Mt. Zion cemetery.

Beran—
John Beran was born January 22, 1895, in Czechoslovakia and passed away Monday morning, January 5, 1959, at the Falls City Community hospital at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was baptized in infancy.
    John was the son of the late Mary and Frank Beran. When he was seven years old, he came with his mother, brother and sisters to this country and settled in Brown county, Kansas. His parents and three sisters preceded him in death. His sisters were Miss Mary Beran, Mrs. Frank Mraz and his twin, Mrs. Lloyd Walters.
    Survivors include one brother, Frank of the home; one sister, Mrs. Rosa Bowen; one cousin, Mrs. Fanny Blecha; three nieces, two nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
    The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. A. Doane from Meek's chapel in Hiawatha Wednesday afternoon, January 7, with Mrs. Wesley Reese, Mrs. E. O. Gruber and Mrs. Homer Taylor in charge of the flowers; Mrs. Charles Swaim, the soloist; Mrs. Leo Schooler, the organist. "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were the vocal numbers by Mrs. Swaim. Body bearers were Marvin Simon, Jim Blecha, Dean Reese, John Reese, Harold Ogg and Bradford Mueller. Interment was at the Mt. Zion cemetery.
