Funeral rites will be held at 2:00 l'clock Sunday afternoon at the residence three miles west of Athens for H.P. Slate, 78, who died at 8 o'clock this morning. Immediately after services the funeral procession will leave for Decatur where interment will take place at City Cemetery with Brown directing.
Surviving are the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd Pope, of Ardmore; Mrs. Ida Scutters, of Carthage, Tenn; Mrs. Clancy Tuggle, of Watertown, Tenn; and Mrs. Vallie Boots, of Nashville; four sons, O.C. of Fort Worth, Texas; J.P. of Athens; H.C. of Decatur and J.H. of Nashville.
Mr. Slate had been a resident of Limestone County for a great many years and was greatly esteemed.
