Staff Sergeant Ernest Kelly Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, SSG Kelly served our country until December 29th, 1966 in Quang Nam, South Vietnam. He was 30 years old and was married. It was reported that Ernest died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Ernest was born on September 5th, 1936 in Bladenboro, North Carolina. SSG Kelly is on panel 13E, line 098 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 6 years.

He was the husband of Mrs Mary Ann Kelly, 1853 Stanberry Street, Fayetteville, NC. He is the Father to Ernest Everett Jerome Kelly, Veronica Rena Kelly and Patrick Mario Kelly.

He served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division,"Screaming Eagles", USARV.

He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service, The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Army Commendation Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal(s).
