He built the first cabin in "virgin woods inhabited by only Indians, buffalo and wolves." Henry was drafted during the War of 1812, under Capt. McPherson. "Henry Jr. tells us that his father, at one shot with a rifle, killed seven wild turkeys." There were nine children: Isaac, Nancy, Jane, Henry Jr., Margaret, Elizabeth, Selah, Mary and John J. A.
