Mary P. Gebhart, 90, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. She was the wife of Richard E. Gebhart, who died June 9, 2013.
Born August 6, 1926 in New Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Charles I. and Mary P. (Staub) Groft.
Mary was a 1944 graduate of Delone Catholic High School and a member of Sacred Heart Basilica, Edgegrove. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, wood carving, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Laura Rhodes of New Oxford, Richard Gebhart of York, and Debora Cosgrove of New Oxford; five grandchildren, Ryan, Travis, Jena, Nichole and Sadie; five great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Margaret Wagaman of York, and William Groft of New Oxford. She was preceded in death by seven siblings, Richard Groft, Doris Hockensmith, Nadine Stuller, Harold Groft, Donald Groft, Charles Groft Jr. and Barbara Hess.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Sacred Heart Basilica, Edgegrove with Rev. Joseph R. Howard as celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove. ,
Serving as pallbearers will be: Sadie Cosgrove, Jeremy Spering, Bert Batiz, Ayden Batiz, Josh Self and Ryan Marshal.
