Larry "Dale" Back, 67, Creekside Drive, Somerset, formerly of Correll Street, Somerset, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at his residence in Somerset.

He was born in Whitesburg, Ky., June 24, 1935, a son of Mattie Griffin Back Flynn of Somerset and the late Samuel Otis Back.

He was a retired truck driver and laborer.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Disabled American Veterans, New Orleans American Legion Post and VFW No. 7323. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Mattie Back Flynn; four daughters, Elaina (and Dale) Whitaker of Somerset, Sheila (and Randall) Hubbard of Bronston, Marla (and Daniel) Ziegler of Galena OH, and Rhonda (and Damus) Dalton Jr. of Somerset; two brothers, Frederick Landis Back of Powell, Tenn., and Jerry N. Back of Arcadia, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Valerie Whitaker, Brandi-Jill Whitaker, Jordan Whitaker, Ambria Woodall, Sheranda Hubbard, Hagan Hubbard, Ali Ziegler, Brooke Compton and Tiara Compton.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Thurman Flynn; two brothers, Jack R. Back and Billy R. Back; and two sisters, Sylvia Elaine Back, and Nathalia Back Baugh.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Dr. Darvie D. Fenison officiating.

Burial will be in the Eubank Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 38.

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund or the V.A. Medical Center Chaplain Service.
