JOSEPH [JAMES - ed.] HAYDEN.
Joseph Hayden, 74 years old, a well-known resident of the city, died today at the city hospital of pneumonia. Mr. Hayden's wife has been visiting at Brownsville for some time and her husband was living alone at 110 Thirteenth avenue. He contracted a cold, but paid little attention to it. Neighbors notified the Chamber of Commerce relief committee, and not knowing of Mr. Hayden's relatives, a member of the committee had him admitted to the hospital last Monday. Pneumonia had developed and taken a strong hold. Mr. Hayden at one time conducted a fish store in the Market house. A brother, Abiga Hayden, lives at West Newton, and J.H. Hayden, a local merchant, is a nephew.
[NOTE: See the following clipping, dated two days later, where this man is called James, not Joseph, Hayden. Further investigation is needed to determine why he may have been called Joseph in the first clipping.]

HAYDEN'S RELATIVES BELIEVE HE SECRETED LARGE ROLL OF BILLS
Believing that he secreted between $1,500 and $2,000 about his home or in some secluded spot, relatives of James Hayden, the aged man who was found ill at 110 Thirteenth avenue, and who died at the McKeesport hospital last week, have so far been unable to find the money. They are today attending the funeral at West Newton and will continue the search tomorrow.
Mr. Hayden was thrifty and many times was heard to express his disbelief in the safety of banks. Several days ago he is reported to have displayed to a relative a large roll of bills, with the remark that he was going to Beaver county to purchase a farm. It is said the roll contained $1,500. He returned later and reported that he did not buy the farm.
Relatives have made a partial search of the premises and his belongings without finding any money. They have hopes of locating some paper telling them where the money is secreted.
