DIED. - At his residence in Keithsburg, near noon, Friday, October 4th, 1878, Robert M. Eddington, after a short illness. Aged 45 years, seven months and twenty days.

The deceased was one of the oldest settlers at Keithsburg. He was born near Milton, Delaware, and came to Keithsburg, twenty-five years ago, and married, July 5th, 1858, a daughter of Mr. B. Brewer. His widow and five children, three daughters and two sons, survive and mourn his death.

R. M. Eddington had some very remarkable traits of character, and his loss to this town and surrounding country will be deeply felt by all. He was, with perhaps one exception, the only successful stock buyer in this county. His judgement, on a trade, or in business, was quickly and correctly given. He bought and sold with a word and it was to him all the region round about looked for a buyer for their hogs and cattle.

R. M. Eddington was true to his friends and was never known to desert them in need. In his family he was the affectionate husband, and devoted father, kind and indulgent to them in all things. His grand ideal was to live and raise his children to respectability and intelligence. His remains were deposited in their last resting place Sunday, and were followed by a very large number of both town and country people, who knew and honored him while he lived. The services being conducted at the house by the Presbyterian minister. A strong man has fallen, and every one feels that a loss has been sustained by the entire country. His bereaved family have the sympathy of all in this sad hour. May they be comforted by Him who only can comfort the widow and fatherless.
