Woody was ornery but had a huge loving heart. He greatly enjoyed being with his family and always had a smile to share. He grew up in Carter City, Kentucky. Woody was employed at Kronis of Mansfield for nineteen years. Woody attended Belmont Community Church and Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church. Woody enjoyed NASCAR, University of Kentucky Wildcats, fishing and watching sports. He also enjoyed reading and studying his Bible.
Woody is survived by his wife of twenty years, Bonnie (Rose) Oakley; his mother, Anna Pearl Oakley; a daughter, Julie Oakley; two sons, Chris Oakley and Jack Oakley; two step daughters, Marcia Morris and Sandie Morris; a very close nephew, Josh Oakley; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his siblings, Daphine (Rick) Ison, Debbie (Mike) Loveless, John Oakley, Angie (Alvin) French, Stephanie Oakley, Ike “Gerald” Oakley; two brothers-in-law, Fred (Braska) Rose, Jerry (Vickie) Rose; a sister-in-law, Charlotte (Clyde) Morris; a very close cousin, Loretta Litteral; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Allen “Fortune” Oakley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy (Angelena) Rose; a brother-in-law, Garry Rose; a sister-in-law, Belinda Oakley; a nephew, Rev. Kevin Morris; an aunt and uncle who raised him, Vernie (Mary Ellen) Oakley; and a very close cousin, Raymond Litteral.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. Friends may also call one hour prior, 9:00-10:00 a.m., at the funeral home Saturday, March 11, 2017. A funeral service conducted by Rev. Gary Lambert and Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in care of the family.
