He was the husband of Kathryn "Kit" Ettenheimer of Palm Beach.
The Detroit native enlisted and reached the rank of full colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II. After landing on Omaha Beach on D-Day, he was among the first units to liberate Buchenwald concentration camp. He received a battlefield promotion, five bronze stars and a Purple Heart.
A licensed residential and commercial builder, he owned and managed several shopping malls. His building companies developed more than 40,000 homes in Michigan, Florida and Montreal.
He was a member of numerous clubs and societies, including the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, Society of Military Engineers, National Conference of Christians and Jews, American Jewish Congress, B´nai B´rith, Masonic Order and Shriners.
He also was a member of Temple Beth El of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and the Palm Beach Country Club.
Mr. Ettenheimer is survived by his wife; four daughters, Karen Sears and husband Brent of Lenox, Mass., Susan Gross and husband Neil of Bloomfield Hills, Margery Ginsberg and husband Raymond Wlodosky of Seattle, and Nancy Ross and husband Jeffrey of Evanston, Ill; and nine grandchildren, Emma Sears, Tyler Sears, Jeffrey Gross, David Gross, Bobby Gross, Daniel Ginsberg-Jaeckle, Matthew Ginsberg-Jaeckle, Eli Ross and Alex Ross. His sister, Nannette Plotkin, preceded him in death.
