Death of Jas D. Reilly
On March 29th, Good Friday, there passed away one of the pioneers of Brant Township, Bruce County, in the person of James Delemere Reilly, better known as "Del" after an illness of a little over two months. The deceased was born in Adjala Township, Simcoe County, in the year 1839 and came to Bruce County in 1855, settling on Lot 21, Con 15 where he continued to live up to the time of his death. His wife predeceased him by about ten years. He leaves a family of two sons and one daughter all of whom were at his bed-side when he passed away. They are as follows: James on the 14th Concession Brant, Joseph on the old home and Mrs. John McGill of Owen Sound. In religion he was a devout Roman Catholic. The funeral was held on Monday morning at St. Michael's Church, North Brant where mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Hoffarth after which the remains were placed in the cemetery beside those of his late wife. The pall bearers were H. Ferguson, Wm. McGill, Wm. Ryan, James Rae, Wm. Ward, G. Kirkwood. The funeral was well attended.
