Daughter of Deacon John Whitman of Stow, Massachusetts and Mary Foster of Stafford Connecticut. In about 1760, they settled on a tract of land on Saw Mill Creek, south of Annapolis, N.S.

Dorcas first married Capt. Eben Perry who was killed at the battle of Bennington, Vt. in 1777.

Her 2nd husband was Samuel McIntrye. Together they went to Upper Canada and settled in Southwold, Elgin County. They had 13 children.
