Ellen Hauser Marsh passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born July 10, 1923, in the Shoals community of Surry County, the daughter of Hubert and Ella Miller Hauser.
She graduated from Pilot Mountain High School. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 37 years.
On Oct. 1, 1949, she married Clinton David Marsh Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a member of Covenant Church United Methodist and a member of the Whitlock Sunday school class.
In addition to her parents; and husband; she was preceded in death by brothers Claude Hauser, Holt Hauser, Carl Hauser, Ira Hauser and Jeff Hauser; and sisters Verna Bowman, Lola Hauser and Joyce Bowen. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are her devoted son and daughter-in-law, David and Pam Marsh; and granddaughters Sara Ellen Marsh and Maggie Marie Marsh. Her granddaughters were the light of her life, and they will miss their "Nana" more than words can say. Also surviving are a brother, Wallace Hauser; sisters Ruth Bowen and Carol Coon; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, at Covenant Church United Methodist, with the Rev Vern Price officiating. Interment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Saturday night, Nov. 25, at Sechrest Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Covenant Church or to Hospice of the Piedmont/Hospice Home, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. The family would like to thank Emerywood Oncology and the Cancer Center for all their kindness and care throughout Ellen's fight with leukemia. We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. George Sanders and Kelly Ledbetter for all their concern and help. We would also like to thank Hospice Home for their tenderness and incredible support for Ellen and for us. Ellen had many friends who called and visited and most of all prayed for her. We would like to thank them all. We will miss Ellen so much, but the knowledge that her suffering is over is a great comfort to us. Online condolences may be made at www.mem.com.
