Rossalyn Candland Sullivan was born September 22, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Norman Henry Candland and Vera "Thelma" Balmforth.

Lynne moved to Long Beach, California when she was just one year old as she would say, because she wanted to be close to her family. She always enjoyed recounting how as a little girl she lived through the great earthquake of 1934. She loved to talk about her wonderful mother and was devastated by her untimely death when she was 10 years old.

She graduated from Wilson High School and became a telephone operator at the Naval Hospital in Long Beach, California in 1944 where she met a handsome young corpsman by the name of Buddy Sullivan and fell in love. It wasn't until going to city hall to get a marriage license did she learn that his name was really Clarence William Sullivan. Lynne and Buddy were married in her father's home by her bishop on March 19, 1945 and began their life as newlyweds.

Lynne and Buddy settled in the small town of Santa Paula, California where they lived in old Army barracks with many other newly returned veterans and their families. Lynne enjoyed recounting how proud she was that she was able to grow the only green plant in their neighborhood until she was informed by a neighbor (who also happened to be a police officer) that the green plant was marijuana — long before California approved it for medical purposes. And oh how her children loved to tease her about this!

Lynne and Buddy were soon blessed with Kathleen, Timothy, Shannon and Kerry. Lynne and Buddy lost Everett Elisha, born sleeping, and Lynne always longed for the day when she would hold this little one in her arms once again.

Lynne fell in love with decorative painting thirty years ago and threw herself into the art. She taught classes on the art of decorative painting and her many projects are scattered about her home.

After over 50 years of living in California they moved to Salt Lake City. Lynne taught decorative painting at the Olympus Senior Center where she taught a class for many years. Many people were blessed by her talent.

Lynne served faithfully in the LDS Church in many callings from Relief Society to Young Women and always accepted any job given to her. One of her last callings was to work in the Young Women’s program and she loved those young girls and they loved her. Her influence was immeasurable. Lynne also loved to crochet and every new baby always received one of her blankets. Lynne's sphere of influence was felt near and far. She will be missed.

She passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 20, 2015 at the age of 89 years old. Lynne was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters Emogene, Katherine, Lorraine, and her sons Everett Elisha and Timothy William Sullivan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Clarence (Sully), her daughters Kathleen Jones (Randy), Shannon Sullivan, and Kerry Huffaker (Warren), 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Oxford Ward Chapel, 3671 South Oldham, West Valley City, Utah with a viewing from 9:30 am to 10:45 am at the Oxford Ward. Burial was at the Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City, Salt Lake, Utah.
