Lucille (Kelleher) Curran was born in Georgetown, Iowa, May 29, 1918, to James P and Hannah Fitzgerald Kelleher. She passed away July 10, 1995 at the Lucas County Health Center.
Lucille attended Georgetown High School and graduated in 1937. She married Maurice E Curran, Feb. 16, 1943 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Georgetown and lived on R. R. #2, Russell.
She was retired from Hawkeye State Bank in Chariton, and clerked at auctions for her sons, Curran Brothers Auction Services until her death.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a volunteer with the LCHS Auxiliary.
Lucille is survived by her husband Maurice of Russell; two sons: Eugene of Russell and James of Chariton; four daughters: Diana Wolf of Rock Island, Ill.; Mary Jo Emerson of Moline, Ill.; Rita Stanforth of Davenport; and Lucy Smith, of Ormand Beach, Fla.; two brothers: Patrick Kelleher of Ottumwa; and Edward Kelleher of Albia, Iowa; her sister, Helen Crall of Ottumwa, and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Carolyn, and two brothers: Vincent Kelleher and John Kelleher, both of Ottumwa.
A visitation and prayer service was held Tuesday, July 11, 1995 at the Fielding Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held Wednesday, July 12 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton with Father Mark Swanson and Father Fred Reischl officiating. Scripture readings were read by Heather Wolf, Kelly Sinclair and Jodi Emerson, granddaughters of Lucille. Serving as pallbearers were Brian Wolf, David Wolf, Leo Ward, Judge Curran, Sonny Atwell, Michael Curran, and Edward J Kelleher.
Interment was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Lucas County Health Center.
Lucille loved her family and was a loving, special person.
Think of her as loving in the hearts of those she touched...for nothing loved is ever lost- and she was loved so much.
