WILLIAM REIBEL, of whose death we made brief mention in Thursday evening's Journal, was a well known resident of this city. His death occurred at 4:10 o'clock Thursday (Mar. 9, 1916) afternoon after a long illness due to dropsy. His family was aware of his critical condition and several of his children from out of the city were at his bedside when the end came. Mr. Reibel was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, in 1840, and was united in marriage there. The family came to this country in 1886 and lived in Stockton, Plum River, then in Washington township, and five years ago moved to this city where they resided in the old Hoffman property near the Pinnacle which they purchased at that time. Mr. Reibel always followed the occupation of a farmer and was a hard-working man. He was honest and upright in his dealings with his fellows and was devoted to his home and family. Besides his widow he is survived by ten children, two sons and a daughter in Australia, two daughters in Stockton, one in Freeport, one in Chicago, two sons and a daughter in this city. All are married and have families. One child died a number of years ago. The children who reside in this city are Mrs. Joe Schmeig and Ben and William Reibel. Friends extend sympathy to the bereaved wife and children in the loss of husband and father."
