MARY (HOFFMAN) REIBEL, for many years a resident of Savanna, but who has been making her home in Freeport for the past six years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Datt, in that city, yesterday afternoon (12 Dec. 1921) about 4:50 o'clock. Death was due to the infirmities of old age, as she was past 81 years of age. Mrs. Reibel was born in Weurtemberg, Germany, Sept. 3, 1840, and was married there to William Reibel about 1863. In 1885 they brought their family to this country, coming to Savanna, where they made their home until Mr. Reibel's death about six years ago, when Mrs. Reibel went to Freeport to make her home with her daughter. During her residence here, Mrs. Reibel made a great number of friends, who will regret to learn of her death. She is survived by nine children, Mrs. Anna Schmeig, William and Ben, of Savanna, Mrs. Michael Binz and Mrs. Joe Kappes, of Stockton, Mrs. Joseph Christian and Joseph Reibel of Australia, Mrs. Franklin Johnson of California, and Mrs. Rudolph Datt, of Freeport. She was also the mother of two other children, one whom died in infancy, and a son who passed away in Australia about a year ago. Besides these children, she is survived by 50 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Her body has been brought to this city, and funeral services will be held from the St. John's Catholic church, of which she was a loyal member, Wednesday morning at nine o'clock, Rev. Father F.J. Antle officiating. Her body will be laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Catholic cemetery.
