Mary Jo Krueger, age 79, a resident of Two Rivers, died early Friday morning, March 24, 2017, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.Mary Jo was born on December 23, 1937, in Bucyrus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Lloyd Earl and Josephine (Stroup) Mowrer. Mary Jo graduated from Valders High School with the Class of 1956, where she is credited with writing the lyrics for the school's fight song which is still sung today, and attended Stout College for one year. On Nov. 9, 1957, she married Gene Krueger in Valders. Being a military wife carried her to many locations throughout the U.S. and was also in Cuba. Mary Jo was a master seamstress, who while employed with Wigwam Co. helped with the sewing of the U.S. Olympic Team uniforms. She and Gene were the owners of East Side Liquor and Pit Stop Portables. Mary Jo was a member of the Two Rivers Lioness Club and the Fleet Reserve Assn.- Ladies Auxiliary, instructor for the "Stepping On" program in support of the Aging Resource Center and also enjoyed walking, golfing, and playing bridge.Survivors include her husband: Gene Krueger; son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Cecilia Krueger; grandchildren: Kyle Krueger, Travis Krueger and Randi Hanson; one brother: Michael (Donna) Mowrer and two sisters: Sue Rank and Kaye Schwalbe. She is further survived by her brothers-in-law: Jerome (Germaine) Krueger, Glenn (Mary) Krueger, Howard (Lois) Krueger and Kenneth (Barbara) Krueger; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter: Kim Denise Krueger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Wilmer and Myrtle Krueger; two brothers-in-law: Curtis Rank and Ronald Schwalbe and a great nephew: Zachary Krueger. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St., Two Rivers. Rev. Kim Henning and Rev. Colie Bettivia will officiate at the service with burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
