"Alice E. Lindgren was born May 28, 1918 to Albert and Mabel (Gilmer) Van Sickle in Laramie, Wyoming. She passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 98 years.

Alice, her siblings and her mother moved to Mooseheart, Illinois after the death of her father, Albert. All of the children attended school there, and she graduated from Mooseheart High School in 1938.

She met her future husband, Clarence Lindgren, at Divide Center, a rural community east of Lyons, Nebraska. Alice and Clarence were married on January 31, 1940. To this union were born 5 children; Clarice, Ray, Jan, Judy and Patricia.

Their first home was in Tekamah, Nebraska, and they later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1942, they moved to Lyons, where they farmed with his father. In 1944 they moved to a farm east of Walthill, Nebraska, where they lived until they sold the farm in 1971 and moved into Walthill. Clarence and Alice delivered newspapers for seven years after their retirement. They moved to Lyons in 2001 and to Oakland in March of 2016. Alice was a member of Walthill Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies’ Aid.

Alice enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a very giving person, always looking out for others. She kept the post office busy with all of the cards she sent for all occasions.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; daughter, Patricia; son-in-law, Buddy; granddaughter, Sandra Wallace; four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her children, Clarice (Henry) Johnson of Allen, NE, Ray (Betty) Lindgren of Waconia, MN, Jan Stidd of Lincoln, Judy Johnson of Creston, IA; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren."
