Mary "Polly" married on 5 Jul 1877 in Jonesboro, TX, Joseph McKee Boyles b. 6 Dec 1852 in Sherman, Grayson Co., TX; they had one daughter: Elizabeth Gatsey Boyles b. 13 Jun 1878 in Jonesboro, TX, who married Franklin Preston Donathan b. 13 Jan 1867 in Revilee, Logan Co., AR.

A letter written at the time of her death from her husband to his mother. Parts of the letter are missing.

Dear & Affectionate Mother

Your very welcome
and interesting letter came to hand ********************** date which I am sad to s********************************** Rosie very ill she w************************************** hard chill on Saturday *********************************** followed which resulted in *******************************
on Thursday following we have **************************** returned from the graveyard. She died as easy & quiet as if she was going to sleep. Mother you can have some idea what my feelings are to have my darling companion torn away from me so very suddenly but Mother we all have to die sooner or later. I think Rosie was prepared ************** so my great loss was her great gain. Lizzie and myself are well hope you all are the same.

Well Mother, I will let Mrs Auvenshine take Lizzie and keep her as for myself, I haven't decided what I will do I am to move our things to Mr Auvenshine's and as for your ******** I think probably John Thomas will take them if he will I ******************************* take them down after while ************************************** him and let me know ******************************* was very glad to hear from ***********************************s him shortly. ********************************* I will close and await a ************** reply after which I will write again and do better.
