"Mary (Hoobler) Anderson died at her home at Baldwin, Kansas, Thursday, April 12 of pneumonia. She was born in Fountain County, Indiana, June 28, 1831. In 1848, she was married to Russell Anderson in Fountain County, moving to Livingston County, Illinois, shortly afterward where they resided for 26 years. From that place, they moved to Clark County, Illinois, and after 3 years, they came to Kansas, locating in Kaw Township in 1877. For 32 years, they farmed the place now occupied by E.P. Brooks, which they owned. In 1899, Mr. Anderson died, but she continued to live on the farm with her children until 8 years ago, when she moved to Baldwin and resided there up till the time of her death. She was the mother of 14 children, seven of whom are dead. Those surviving are: Mrs. G.W. Wilgus, Baldwin, Kans.; Jacob Anderson, Maple Hill, Kans.; Fred Anderson, Topeka; John R. Anderson, Mrs. J.F. Axley, Mrs. T. Barkens of Salem, Ore.; and Mrs. J.F. Quigley of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Jacob Hoobler of Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren Church at Baldwin and interment in the Greenwood cemetery in Kaw Township, Sunday afternoon."
