Dennis L. Bennett, age 80, a resident of Melbourne, FL, died Sunday, March 26, 2017.He was born on May 14, 1936 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, son of the late Homer and Ethel (Flaim) Bennett. Dennis was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1954. After graduation, he entered the United States Army. On September 11, 1959, he married Anna Schmid in Germany. He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years retiring in 1984 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. After his retirement, Dennis worked for the U.S. Government until 1998.Survivors include his wife: Anna Bennett, Melbourne, FL; a daughter and son-in-law: Petra and Mark Newton, Stafford, VA and their children: Donald, Angela and Kama; a son and daughter-in-law: Dennis and Maureen Bennett, Warrenton, VA and their children: Kayla, Matthew and Joseph; grandchildren: Sarah Bennett and Aaron Bennett; and eight great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Bernard and Barbara Bennett, Manitowoc; six sisters and brothers-in-law: Sharon and James Kopidlansky, Pottsboro, TX., Rosie and Fred Benzinger, Two Rivers, Paulette and Michael Shallue, Manitowoc, Kathy and Les (Jerry) Graebel, Manitowoc, Mary Jo and John Wachholz, Manitowoc, Bobbi and Greg Tuma, Clover. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Homer Bennett; three brothers: David, Donald and Michael; a brother-in-law: John Felber; two sisters-in-law: Nancy (Bonin) Bennett and Elizabeth (Nelson) Bennett.Cremation has occurred and a private family service will be held in May at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA.
