Eugene Robert Faulds was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Ivanhoe to Hugh and Bertha (Goodmunsen) Faulds. He was baptized and confirmed in the Icelandic Lutheran Church. Gene and Alice raised their family in the United Methodist Church and they continued their faithful mission as active members of the Bethany-Elim Lutheran Church. Gene attended Ivanhoe Public School and graduated in 1945. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in the Philippines. Ivanhoe had been his home for 89 years, seven months and 17 days.

On June 21, 1950, Gene was united in marriage to Alice Madsen at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. To this union they were blessed with five children. Gene worked with his dad at H.P Faulds Trucking until he became employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Ivanhoe as a rural mail carrier for 30 years. During this time he established Faulds Fix-It Shop and supporting a large surrounding area with all kinds of fix-it needs. He stayed active helping and supporting the needs of his community.

Gene enjoyed Faulds Fix-It, helping and visiting with people, reading, singing, watching documentaries on TV, sharing email and the numerous annual family camping trips. He was an avid historian and remembered dates, times and events to the stories he told over and over. He also enjoyed staying active in Senior College at SMSU. He especially loved, honored and adored his wife, family and friends and looked forward to spending time together.
