His best year was in 1963 when he won 20 games and was named to the American League All Star Team. On April 30, 1967, Barber pitched a combined no-hit game along with Stu Miller against the Detroit Tigers. However, he lost the game with base on balls and a wild pitch that would lead to the winning run for Detroit. In 466 career games, Barber won 121 and lost 106 with a lifetime 3.36 ERA. He died of complications from pneumonia.
