[Barzillai Beckwith, born Lyme, Conn., April 1738; farmer at Ellington, Conn.; deacon Congregational Ch.; removed to East Haddam, Conn., 1735; died there February, 1818; married (1) Mary Butler, died Dec. 3, 1797, mother of his children; (2) Mrs. Lucinda, dau. of Abner Lee and widow of Elias Mather, d. Jan. 18, 1813; (3) Mrs. Mary (Hyde) Hatch of Bolton.

2. Barzillia, born East Haddam, Conn., Nov. 19th, 1765; farmer; died Ellington, Conn., March 11th, 1813; married Sep. 26, 1791, Livia Griffin, born E. Haddam, Oct. 12th, 1764; died June 14th, 1840.
3. Rebecca; born East Haddam, Dec. 22d, 1767; married Eleazer Cone, b. Dec. 28, 1765, d. Nov. 22, 1831.
4. Mary; born Dec. 16th, 1769; died Nov., 1814.
5. Butler, born E. Haddam, Feb. 14, 1772; married Sep. 10, 1797, Hannah Cone of E. Haddam, b. Oct. 25, 1770, daughter of George and Elizabeth Brainard Cone.
6. Sarah; born June 3d, 1773; married Lemuel Griffin, b. Sep. 11, 1771, son of Lemuel and Lydia Willey Griffin; children: Lillia, Emily and Mary.
7. Elizabeth; born Feb. 23d, 1777; married Allen W. Griffin of Marietta, Ohio; daughter Betsy married John Brockway, M.D., of N. Lyme, Ct.

[I found two newspaper articles (one facsimile and one transcribed) that list the town in which he died as East Hartford. That may be an error (with one paper replicating the other) but I figured a contemporary article is probably an OK bet.

There had been Beckwiths in East Hartford (Job and Mehetable) around then. I don't know that he was visiting them but he could have been. I don't know have any reason to believe that he lived there, though.
